Moist, tender masa wrapped in banana leaf — chicken in mole verde, pork in Puerto Rican sauce, kale with green mole, sweet pineapple — plus fresh juices on 18th Street.

Yvolina’s Tamales is a family tamale shop at 814 W 18th St in Pilsen. Instead of corn husks, every tamal is steamed in a neat banana-leaf cocoon, which keeps the masa soft and moist.
Fillings run from the classics — chicken with salsa verde or roja — to vegan tamales with kale, lentils and quinoa, or soy tinga. Many are meat- and animal product-free, and our masa is made with no lard.
